This policy explains how Lion Guard Corporation o/a Ontario Security License ("we") handles personal information collected through ontariosecuritylicense.ca and our courses.
Last updated: October 20, 2026
What information do we collect?
- Practice test and eligibility check: your email address, your answers and result, whether you have completed the 40-hour training, and whether you agreed to receive marketing emails.
- Email boxes on our course and CRJMC pages: the email address you enter and which course or service you were looking at.
- Contact form: your name, email, phone number (optional), topic and message.
- Creating an account and enrolling: your name, email address, password (stored encrypted), the package you buy, and the details the student portal asks for to verify your identity and issue your Training Completion Number (TCN).
- Payments: card payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number; we receive only a confirmation, the amount and the last four digits.
- CRJMC orders: the personal details the police background check requires, such as your name, date of birth, address and ID. These are collected through our CRJMC partner, Triton, and the police service that runs the check.
- First aid and CPR bookings: your name and contact details, shared with Ontario CPR Society so they can book your class and issue your certificate.
- Analytics and cookies: we use Google Analytics 4 and Google Tag Manager to count visits and see which pages and buttons are used, and Microsoft Clarity to see how visitors scroll and click so we can fix confusing pages. These tools use cookies and collect information such as your device, browser, approximate location (city level), pages visited and clicks. They do not receive your name, email or payment details from us.
How do we use it?
- To deliver your course, give you access to the student portal and answer your questions
- To verify your identity and issue your Training Completion Number (TCN)
- To process payments, CRJMC orders and first aid bookings
- To email your practice test or eligibility results, receipts and course updates
- To follow up about an enrolment you started but didn't finish
- To send tips and offers, only if you opted in
- To understand how our website is used and improve it
Who do we share it with?
We don't sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers that help us run our courses, and only what they need:
- Ministry of the Solicitor General: the training completion details the Ministry requires so your TCN can be issued
- Triton and the Ontario police service that runs your CRJMC
- Ontario CPR Society (with Archer First Aid) for first aid and CPR classes
- Stripe for payments
- Brevo for sending emails
- Google (Analytics and Tag Manager) and Microsoft (Clarity) for website analytics
- Our website and student portal hosting providers
Some of these providers may store information outside Canada, for example in the United States, where it may be accessed by authorities under local law. We may also disclose information when the law requires it.
Marketing emails and consent
We only send marketing emails if you opt in, for example by ticking the box on the practice test or sign-up form. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link, or you can email us to withdraw your consent at any time. If you start an enrolment but don't finish, we may email you about that enrolment for up to six months, as Canada's anti-spam law allows.
How long do we keep it, and how is it protected?
We keep your information only as long as we need it for the purposes above and to meet legal and tax requirements. Student and order records are kept for as long as tax law and the Ministry's record-keeping rules require, then securely deleted. Access is limited to staff who need it, connections to our website are encrypted (HTTPS) and passwords are stored encrypted.
Your rights
Under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), you can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or withdraw your consent. Email us and we'll respond within 30 days. If you're not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
