Privacy Policy

At https://ontariosecuritylicense.ca (the "Site"), we respect your privacy and are committed to protecting it. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard information that can be used to identify you ("Personal Information").

Information We Collect

We collect Personal Information that you voluntarily provide to us when you use the Site. This may include your name, email address, phone number, and any other information you provide when you fill out forms on the Site.

We also automatically collect certain information when you visit the Site, including your IP address, browser type, operating system, access times, and referring website addresses. This information is used to analyze trends, administer the site, track user movements around the site, and gather demographic information about our user base as a whole.

Use of Information

We use the Personal Information you provide to us to respond to your inquiries, fulfill your requests for information, and to provide you with information related to private security testing.

We may also use your Personal Information for our own internal purposes, such as data analysis, developing new products, and improving the Site.

Disclosure of Information

We do not sell, trade, or rent your Personal Information to others. However, we may share your information with our trusted third-party service providers who assist us in operating the Site or providing services to you. These third parties are obligated to keep your information confidential and are not permitted to use your Personal Information for any other purpose.

We may also disclose your Personal Information if required by law, to enforce our site policies, or to protect our or others' rights, property, or safety.

Separately, we may share limited information with advertising platforms for the measurement and audience-matching purposes described below. Those platforms may use this information under their own terms and privacy policies.

Advertising and Conversion Measurement

We advertise our services on third-party platforms including Meta (Facebook and Instagram) and Google. To understand which advertisements lead to purchases, we share limited information about completed transactions with these platforms.

The transaction information shared is limited to the value of the purchase, the currency, non-identifying product codes indicating which course or service was purchased, and a unique transaction reference.

Advertising tools such as pixels may also collect technical information, including your IP address, browser and device information, the pages you visit, and cookie identifiers. This information helps the platforms measure visits and purchases and relate them to advertisements.

We do not share the information you provide in connection with criminal record checks or other compliance services, or the results of those checks, for these advertising purposes. We do not share payment card numbers, bank account details or payment credentials with advertising platforms.

These platforms may use this information to measure the performance of our advertising and to improve the relevance of advertisements shown to you. You can control how these platforms use information about you through your advertising settings on each platform and through your browser's cookie settings.

Audience Matching

We may also use customer lists with advertising platforms to match our customers to existing accounts and reach people with similar characteristics.

Where we do this, the information provided is limited to contact and location details such as name, email address, telephone number, city, province, country and postal code, together with the amount paid and which service was purchased.

Contact identifiers such as email addresses and telephone numbers are converted into hashed values before they are sent for matching. Hashing allows the platform to compare these identifiers with its existing accounts; it does not make the information anonymous. Supporting purchase and location information may be sent in the format required by the platform.

These lists record only that a purchase was made. They do not include information submitted as part of a criminal record check or compliance service, the outcome of any check, or payment card numbers, bank account details or payment credentials. We do not use these audience lists to contact you outside the advertising platform.

You can ask us to exclude you from these lists at any time by contacting us at tcn@ontariosecuritylicense.ca. You can also control how platforms use information about you through your advertising settings on each platform.

Third-Party Websites

The Site may contain links to third-party websites. We do not control these websites and are not responsible for their privacy practices. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party websites you visit.

Security

We take the security of your Personal Information seriously and have implemented appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online.

Policy Revisions

We reserve the right to revise, amend, or update this policy at our discretion. Any changes made to this policy will be posted on this page, and your continued use of the Site after any such changes constitutes your acceptance of the new policy.
